Cleansing the skin is a first step everyone (yes, men included!) should endeavour to do. Many celebrities and makeup artists and beauty gurus will agree that a ‘clean’ face is essential. I’ve witnessed many performers who did not clean their faces well after all that heavy stage makeup, resulting in clogged pores and breakouts. With practise, you will be able to do these steps quickly and efficiently.
Here is a beauty ‘how-to’ detailing the steps for cleansing. These steps are frequently used by beauticians in a beauty salon.
Step 1 : Remove eye and lip makeup. Soak two cotton pads with eye makeup remover, and place it on the eyes. Swipe gently to remove eye makeup. Do the same with the lips.
Step 2 : Remove all makeup from face. Do this with a deep cleanser or precleanser. To effectively remove all waterproof makeup, it is important to use an oil based cleanser. Massage some cleansing cream or cleansing oil into the face to melt makeup. Tissue off or use wet cotton pads to wipe off.
Step 3: Using the same cleanser or another cleanser suitable for your skin type, repeat step 2 and rinse off with water.
Step 4 : Rinse face thoroughly to remove all soap residue, finishing with cold water to shrink pores.
Step 5 : Pat dry with a clean towel gently.
Step 6 (optional) : Use a toner or astringent suitable for your skin type.
